How long does it take you to finish?

When you initially book your pet portrait I will give you a rough time frame for when I will be starting, for example mid-late August. Once I begin, the time it takes to complete your portrait really depends on the type of animal, fur texture and size. I don't like to rush my work and if anything, would rather spend more time than anticipated to ensure your portrait is perfect. For this reason I do not like to give a set date for completion until closer to the time. Please understand that as I am managing this business by myself, I like to ensure things run smoothly and the work I produce is of the highest quality and whilst I endeavour to be as accurate as possible with completion dates, there may be times that I run over this.

Do you frame the portrait?

I do not send portraits off in a frame, this is to keep shipping costs and potential damage to an absolute minimum. It also give you autonomy to work with a local framer and explore the options available to you in person with advice from a professional framer.

In your portrait package, you will receive some information on how to care and frame your portrait.

I have a deadline, can you accommodate?

If you have a deadline in mind, I highly recommend you contact me as soon as you can. My waitlist varies between a few weeks or a couple of months and at Christmas it's even longer.

I can not rush to complete your portrait in time, so if it is too soon I can offer a gift voucher covering the cost of the pet portrait which you can then give to your loved one on their special day. This also means that they can get in touch with me to discuss their specific requirements, send me their pet photos and be more involved with the creation of their pet portrait. More information on gift vouchers can be found at

Can you video the creation of my portrait or make a TikTok?

Absolutely! I try and take regular videos and photos of all my commissions, but sometimes I don't as it seem to take more time than expected. If you'd really like a process video please let me know so I can make sure I film it!

Can you still use poor quality reference photos?

I understand that sometimes it isn't always possible to have a perfect reference photo and that's okay! In this case, ideally I need one reference photo to replicate the positioning of your pet and a couple more that show key features and their fur colour. If you're not sure, just send over what you have and I can advise on what we can do.

What materials do you use?

I use professional quality materials to produce your artwork. It's important to me that your portrait lasts for a long long time so I use highly rated light fast pencils to ensure your portrait doesn't fade with time. I use Clairefontaine pastelmat paper - an industry leading pastel paper that holds the pigment exceptionally well. For the base layers I use Unison soft pastels to build up the values and undercoat colours in your portrait, followed by pastel pencils to create many layers of details and lifelike fur - this is what's going to make your portrait come to life! These include brands such as Stabillo Carbothello, Derwent, Caron D'ache and Faber Castell.
